Kiwanis Club of Coeur d’Alene was founded in 1925, and we have 12 past presidents. In 1927, for $7500, our club purchased 100 acres of water front land on the beautiful Spokane River. As it turns out, it was a very wise investment. In 2000 we sold off approximately 40 acres and, because of that, it makes us one of the only self-sustaining clubs in the world.
Kiwanis Club of Coeur d’Alene received $150,000 from the Higgens family (former club members) and that money was used to create Kiwanis Park (see photo above) as we know it today, which was dedicated in April 2001.
Covering 40 acres, Kiwanis Park draws locals and tourists with its lush and beautiful surroundings and many amenities, including picnic areas, picnic shelters, restrooms, beach access, and trails. Kiwanis Park has become a staple in the community and is often the site for frisbee golf tournaments, school day-retreats, high school cross country track meets, family reunions, and much more.
Kiwanis Club of Coeur d’Alene meets every Wednesday at Michael D’s Eatery at 12 noon. Michael D’s is located at 203 E. Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive.
